Musicians

A love of American roots music has been an significant part of my life since the moment at the age of twelve when I first heard 'Gallow's Pole'. Since then, a constant in my life has been an exploration of the nooks and crannies of Americana.

The Mississippi delta proved to be a fertile environment for the birth of an indigenous music. Here, slavery and poverty intersected with the strutures of great wealth that lead, inevitably, to notions of right and privilege. From this melting pot arose the blues. A music that spoke to a universal human condition, a good man feelin' bad.

Hank Williams.

White folk were making music too. Some of 'em were dirt poor, others surrounded by the trappings of wealth.
